CRITIC’S CHOICE EXTRA: Symphony and much more at Ravinia

HIGHLAND PARK – Ravinia, identified as the place to go for summer music since 1904, continues its rich tradition with a lineup of old and new talent.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, regarded as the crown jewel of the park’s classical programming, is in full swing.

An all-Rachmaninoff evening with the CSO, led by Gianandrea Noseda, conductor laureate of the BBC Philharmonic, is planned for Thursday, Aug. 2 at 8 p.m. The concert will feature soprano Nicole Cabell (Cardiff “Singer of the World” competition winner), and award-winning pianist Sean Botkin.
