Back to school: Skinnies, denims, bold colors
Halie Altmann, 15, and Nikki DePasquale, 15, will be sophomores at Grant Community High School in Fox Lake in a few weeks. Like most ladies their age, their thoughts are turning to back-to-school fashion. To see what’s in style, they visited Dots Fashions in Waukegan Aug. 2.
Upon entering, they found four fall sections, or as manager Lorena Terry calls them, pads. To the immediate left is the Southwest Chic pad, where tans, nudes, pinks and peaches decorate loose-fitting blouses and crocheted tops. Navajo and floral print tops hang next to high-waist khaki skirts and shorts. These items are meant for casual coffee and shopping trips, Terry said. This section was particularly popular with Altmann and DePasquale, who enjoy flattering light colors while their skin still has a post-summer after glow.
“I like corals,” said DePasquale. Altmann agreed, adding she also likes peachy colors.
DePasquale tried on a loose-fitting pastel pink top. She layered the top with a white camisole top, and opted for a pair of distressed flare jeans. To add a splash of accessory, she tried on a cheetah print belt and cheetah print flats, suggested by Terry.
