LAKE VILLA – Nearly 1,000 people gathered at Township Park in Lake Villa on July 24 for the annual Antioch/Lakes-area Relay for Life fundraiser. Those 1,000 people raised at least $90,000 for the American Cancer Society.

CHICAGO – “A Parallelogram,” a disarming new play by Bruce Norris debuting at Steppenwolf Theatre, conceives of a parallel universe to ours, one not only existing on a different plane but also years into the future.
Matt Charlier isn’t a veteran, but that hasn’t stopped him from supporting troops in a big way. Charlier is the northern Illinois state coordinator for Warriors’ Watch, a motorcycle group that honors soldiers with parade-style events. The group does everything from homecomings to send-offs to mug-and-hugs. Charlier recently chatted with reporter Crystal Lindell about the organization, the reactions he gets from those in uniform, and treating troops like rock stars.
